Basics of Sikhism
Sikhism is the youngest of the world religions.Its history dates back to 1469.
ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਧਰਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਛੋਟਾ ਹੈ । ਇਸਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ 1469 ਸਾਲ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਹੈ ।
The first date in Sikhism is 1469.Its founder Guru Nanak Dev was born in a village called Talwandi, now known as Nankana Sahib in Pakistan, in 1469.
ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਤਾਰੀਖ਼ 1469 ਹੈ । ਇਸ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਥਾਪਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਨਾਮਕ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਹੁਣ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਨਕਾਣਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Sikhs calls to their God ‘Waheguru’, meaning that God is great.Their general salutation is, Sat Shri Akal (God is supreme and immortal). When Sikhs meets each other, they called each other is :-
“Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh”.
ਸਿਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ‘ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ’ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਹਾਨ ਹੈ । ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਮ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਹੈ, ਸਤਿ ਸ਼ੀ ਅਕਾਲ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਰਵਉੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਅਮਰ ਹੈ) । ਜਦੋਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਇਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ :-
“ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਤਿਹ“ ॥
